Dear Students,
As we prepare for the Spring 2009 semester, the Office of the Registrar would like to bring you up to date on a major project that will require the temporary relocation of classes traditionally offered in Mitchell Hall. Beginning in January 2009, Mitchell Hall, one of the university's main classroom buildings, will close for one year for a long over-due modernization.
This 50-year-old building will receive a makeover that will turn it into a state of the art learning center.
The project includes:
- Classroom technology enhancements including wireless internet coverage, ceiling-mounted digital projectors, motorized screens, etc.
- A computer classroom
- A walk-up computer counter
- A gathering lounge for students and instructors
- New instructor and student furnishings
- New energy efficient windows
- Upgraded bathrooms
- New interior finishes
- Significant upgrades to the heating, cooling and ventilation systems to provide a more energy efficient building
This exciting project does not come without certain complications. In an average semester there are over 500 sections of academic classes taught in Mitchell Hall. Because it will not be available for Spring, Summer and Fall 2009 classes, these sections will have to be rescheduled and relocated. This large undertaking will require much cooperation between the schools/colleges, academic departments, the Registrar's Office, and students. The Spring 2009 schedule will be available for your viewing on Monday, November 10 and pre-registration by appointment date will begin Monday, December 1.
We appreciate your patience during this important project on our campus. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us by email or by phone, Kathleen F. Sena, Registrar at 277-4792 or Jep Choate, Associate Registrar at 277-7596.
Respectfully,
Kathleen F. Sena
Registrar
