Registrar's Letter To Students

Dear Students,

I am delighted to inform you that the Mitchell Hall remodel project is nearly done! The newly refurbished building will be open on January 19, the first day of classes for the Spring 2010 semester. I want to thank you for your patience while this important classroom building has been off-line during the 2009 year. You will be pleased with the makeover — one of the oldest classroom buildings on campus has now been thoroughly modernized. Your comfort and convenience were in mind as we planned this project.

When you walk through the doors this semester you will observe some of the following building updates:

  • A new Outtakes deli, serving food and drinks throughout the day, with an attractive and comfortable seating area inside.
  • A patio outside where you can also enjoy your deli treats as you wait for your class to start.
  • Wireless internet coverage, ceiling-mounted digital projectors, and motorized projector screens in every classroom.
  • A computer classroom with 26 workstations.
  • A walk-up computer counter with several stations, where you can work on homework assignments, or just check the latest news.
  • Informal small seating areas where you can meet with friends or instructors.
  • New instructor and student furnishings — desk, tables and chairs.
  • New energy efficient windows, with more efficient and modern shades.
  • Upgraded bathrooms, including new bathrooms on the first floor.
  • New interior finishes — new flooring, ceiling tiles, lighting fixtures and new paint.
  • Significant upgrades to the heating, cooling and ventilation systems to provide a more comfortable and energy efficient building

Again, thank you for your patience during the remodel of the Mitchell Hall classroom building. If you have any questions, please contact us by email or by phone, Kathleen F. Sena, Registrar at 277-4792 or Jep Choate, Associate Registrar at 277-6419.
